Homs-Sana

In the major crises that afflict peoples, a question is asked about the role of the intellectual in what is happening and whether he can exercise his role in light of the major transformations.

Multiple photos of the intellectual in the theater of the late writer Saadallah Wannous presented by Dr. Rasha Al-Ali as part of a lecture by the Association of University Graduates in Homs at the Association's headquarters, in the presence of intellectuals and those interested in cultural affairs.

Dr. Al-Ali based “in the play “Historical Miniatures” by the great writer Wannous on the character of Ibn Khaldun through Ibn Khaldun’s position on an important historical incident, which is the Tatar invasion of the Levant. People at that time need to deliver without resistance.

Dr. Al-Ali was caught by a figure who is an example of the avant-garde intellectual, the character of Abu Khalil Al-Qabbani in the theater of Al-Adib Wannous, who laid the foundations for the art of theater in Syria and sold his property in order to set up a theater. His artistic career in Egypt lasted for more than thirteen years. The writer Wannous does not hide his admiration for this character, as he is a picture of the pioneering intellectual.

As for the character of Professor Farouk in the play “A Day of Our Time,” he is a witness to corruption in all sectors and ended with his suicide because of the paradox that the character experienced from the values he believed in and the rampant corruption in reality.

From a popular story, the great writer Wanos drew in his play “The Elephant, King of Time” another image of the intellectual, the character “Zakaria”, who tried to educate the people to stand in the face of the king because his elephants wreak havoc everywhere and when he stood before the king to demand his right and the right of the people to repel the elephant’s harm from them The voices choked in the throats and he stood alone in front of the king and ended in defeat, everyone let him down.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Rasha Al-Ali holds a doctorate in modern prose from Ain Shams University in Egypt, a professor of modern literature in the Department of Arabic Language at Al-Baath University and a member of the Arab Writers Union. She has several books and studies in literary criticism. She received the Sharjah Prize for Literary Creativity in the Field of Public Criticism 2012 and a member Arbitrator in the Al-Tayeb Salih International Prize for the year 2014.
