Anna Lamers (95) from Erding received the Bavarian Order of Merit on Thursday.

She was honored for her many honorary posts.

The elderly lady is still committed.

Erding

– Anna Lamers has already collected a number of awards in her life.

For her many honorary posts, the 95-year-old has received a large number of medals, badges of honor and certificates.

"The cross and the cross and the cross," she lists, laughing.

She was happy about every single recognition.

A very special one was added yesterday: The girl from Erding was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.

The elderly lady wasn't excited about the trip to Munich for the award ceremony – rather curious.

After breakfast, the honoree made her way to the state capital with her two daughters Renate and Hildegard in tow.

Once there, she enjoyed the festive ambience of the residence - and the meeting with the prime minister: "When do you ever have the opportunity to see the Söder, which you otherwise only know from television?"

The oldest honored with the Bavarian Order of Merit 2022

When she was supposed to go on stage alone, the nervousness came through.

Finally, as the oldest of the 72 honorees - including Minister of State Joachim Herrmann, triathlete Anne Haug and moderator Kai Pflaume - she received an extra round of applause.

"I couldn't really hear what the Prime Minister was saying, I was so excited," she says.

There was also a lot of respect and praise during the joint lunch that followed.

"So many people came to me and wished me all the best." When the Bavarian anthem was played, the excitement finally gave way to another feeling: "It touches you too," says Anna Lamers - and adds modestly added: "Actually, I'm proud.

But I'm just as happy that I was able to do everything, that I was always fine and that I could be there for the people."

Still volunteering at the age of 95

The past is actually the wrong form here.

Because even today, at the advanced age of 95, she shares her seemingly infinite energy with others who have less of it.

Twice a week she goes to the Heiliggeist-Stift in the city park to read to the residents or to play bingo with them.

"Anna Lamers is always there when others need her help," said yesterday in the laudation at the Munich Residence.

As a result, she "made an outstanding contribution to social cohesion in society".

Anna Lamers BRK member since 1973

The sprightly senior citizen, who still lives in her own household, is well known in the district, above all because of her decades of service to the Bavarian Red Cross.

She has been an active member of the district association since 1973.

In addition, she worked for a long time in the social circle of the parish of St. Vinzenz - and to this day looks after "her elderly" in the retirement home.

Anna Lamers is a woman of action.

Born in Böhmin and living in Erding since 1973, she worked in surgery at the clinic for more than 40 years.

The widow remembers with a smile that she made a difference in one or two marriages there.

When someone was admitted with a hand injury, Anna Lamers set about pulling the wedding ring off their finger before the surgeons cut it off – with water, soap, thread and a lot of patience.

This devotion, this gift of one's own time, is what has always characterized Anna Lamers' commitment in all areas.

There is no room on the walls for the many awards and certificates that have been collected

As nice as yesterday's trip to Munich was for the elderly lady, it was just as exhausting for her.

She was very tired that afternoon from all the excitement – tired and fulfilled.

The Order of Merit that she brought home with her will have its place in the album, Anna Lamers plans.

It also contains the other badges of honor and certificates.

"I don't hang up," she says.

"Then there would be way too much hanging around here."
