After 26 years, municipal councilor Josef Denk from Wolfersdorf has resigned.

He is silent about the reasons.

His successor was sworn in - Josef Denk sat in the rows of spectators.

Wolfersdorf

– If he had something to say during his time as a municipal councillor, he did so without hesitation.

He never came to a meeting unprepared - on the contrary: there was no important topic on which municipal councilor Josef Denk had not gathered information in advance.

It often rattled after Denk spoke, who, when he was sure that he had discovered an error, grievance or omission, addressed it openly and very clearly in the public meetings.

I was always loud - now I go quietly.

Josef Denk, who resigned from the Wolfersdorf municipal council without giving a reason

Josef Denk has now resigned from his municipal council mandate.

He did so in closed session.

The 59-year-old did not give any reasons for this when asked.

In the FT interview, he says: "I was always loud - and walk quietly." When asked specifically whether there had been arguments in the past two years about various topics in the municipal council - for example the new fire station in Jägersdorf - asked Strongly think about respecting the fact that he is now retiring from the board, without wanting to explain the move in more detail.

"It's the way it is now and I think it's the right way."

He has learned a lot in the past 26 years on the board.

For example, that as a municipal councilor you are dependent on being provided with information by others.

“And I always had good people who explained things to me in detail and I was able to pass this on to the municipal council.” In retrospect, Denk is grateful to these people – whether in government or privately.

In the FT conversation, the belligerent spirit is now playing unusually quiet tones.

He answers what he would like for Wolfersdorf as follows: “I have always made sure that Wolfersdorf is doing well – others will do the same.” What he has always been able to count on over the past 26 years, as he emphasizes, is the support of the citizens been.

Many had approached him with a request to address things in the municipal council.

Basically, he looks back on a time with many beautiful moments.

"It was nice to see how many motions finally found a majority - for the benefit of the citizens - that was nice." But Denk doesn't want to list everything that was implemented during his time in Wolfersdorf.

"I was just one of many community council members, that wouldn't be appropriate."

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

He has a clear answer to the question of why he sat in the rows of spectators at the meeting on Thursday: "Because my successor was sworn in - that's what decency requires, that was my duty." Although it was his last in Wolfersdorf's local politics, from which Denk is now withdrawing completely.

Also because of the fact that Roland Kreitmayr is the one who has now taken his place on the committee.

"I know him, because of him I was able to resign my mandate with a clear conscience before the official end of the election period," says Denk, adding: "He can do it better than me in a different way."

After the municipal council on Thursday approved Josef Denk's application to resign from the municipal council mandate with immediate effect, Roland Kreitmayr was sworn in as his list successor in the Dürnhaindlfing electoral community by Mayor Anita Wölfle.

And then it was still a matter of appointing two more deputies in the event that the mayor and her deputy were unable to attend at the same time.

Matthias Reiser is now the first deputy in place of Josef Denk, and Maria Holzmaier is taking over Reiser's previous position.
