What is to become of this fillet area?

The Filet area belongs to the people of Mittenwald, so they should also have a say.

In order to prevent renewed bickering over the former Karwendelbad site, the slogan is now citizen participation.

The magic word here is World-Café.

Mittenwald

– On October 24, 2021, the people of Mittenwald spoke out in a referendum against the sale of the municipal property on Bahnhofstrasse.

The planned aja hotel was thus dead.

So it's been a year now.

In other words: As of yesterday, there is no longer a binding period for this vote.

Theoretically, the top of the town hall could immediately present plans for a posh inner-city resort.

But those responsible in the municipal office wisely do not do that.

After all, the further use of this fillet area has sometimes cost a mayor his office.

The municipal council, which wanted to implement the aja hotel with an overwhelming majority, also got a bloody nose from the sovereign.

The aim is to get a broad basis and a consensus.

Mayor Enrico Corongiu

City hall chief Enrico Corongiu (SPD) therefore prefers citizen participation.

"The aim is to get a broad basis and a consensus." The Social Democrat wants to present these plans at tomorrow's citizens' meeting.

The reason for this is the expiry of the binding period mentioned at the beginning.

"The municipal council would like to try again," says Corongiu.

The thick air in the committee apparently disappeared after the citizens' gossip of October 24, 2021.

At that time, in a memorable meeting a few days after this sobering vote, CSU faction leader Regina Hornsteiner poisoned her SPD colleague Ursula Seydel, who had exposed herself as a vehement opponent of the hotel plans.

"I call on you and the initiators of the referendum to come up with concrete, realizable,

So now the base should participate – in a so-called world café.

In this workshop, to use another New German word, a constructive level of discussion should be found under the guidance of an external moderator.

Which has recently been rather difficult with this special topic.

What should this citizens' forum look like in concrete terms?

The mayor would like to limit the field of participants to 80 interested parties.

You can register at City Hall.

"If there are more, a lot will be drawn," explains Corongiu.

At four tables, the participants should formulate goals and wishes in individual groups.

The future of the Karwendelbad area should of course be a tourist one, explains the head of the town hall and refers to the underlying development plan.

The World Café is scheduled to take place at the end of November.

The results will be presented in early December.

"Then we have a framework and approach the interested parties." There are quite a few of them, says Corongiu.

"Some keep contacting me and dropping in on us as well." In other words: Investors were not deterred by the decision a year ago.

At the time, a dejected Gerhard Schöner drew this scenario.

"This place is burned," the CSU municipal council in October 2021 had bad thoughts.

So now it's up to the World-Café - true to the motto: Once the citizen is in the boat, he won't sink it...
