Ukraine announces that it prepares steam locomotives to continue maintaining services

88% of Ukrainians believe that their country will be in the EU in 10 years
Some 88% of Ukrainians believe that their country will be a prosperous member of the European Union in 10 years, according to a survey published Monday by the International Institute of Sociology in kyiv.
Ukraine officially applied to join the EU shortly after the Russian invasion in February, and in June the Commission recommended its candidacy for membership of the Union.
The survey asked 1,000 people throughout the country, with the exception of the occupied territories.
Ukrainians were optimistic about their chances of joining the EU, even in the east of the country, where pro-European sentiment was traditionally weakest.
76% of those surveyed saw the future of their country in the EU.
Only 5% said they believed that the end of the war would leave the country with a destroyed economy and cause a large exodus.

kyiv takes control of five “strategic” companies
Ukraine has reported on Monday that the Defense Ministry has taken control of five "strategically important" energy companies and factories to ensure the necessary supplies for the army to defend itself from the Russian invasion.
"The confiscated assets have acquired the status of military property and their management has been transferred to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine," Security Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov told a briefing.
The nationalized companies are Ukrnafta, the largest oil and natural gas extractor, the aircraft engine manufacturer Motor Sich, the oil refiner Ukrtatnafta, the automobile manufacturer AutoKrAZ and the power transformer producer Zaporozhtransformator.

Ucrania dice que las tropas rusas se camuflan de civiles en las casas de Jersón para defenderla calle a calle
Ucrania ha acusado este lunes a Rusia de saquear las casas vacías de la ciudad sureña de Jersón, la única capital provincial ucrania conquistada por las tropas del Kremlin desde que comenzó la invasión en febrero. Según Kiev, los soldados rusos, vestidos con ropa de civiles, han ocupado las viviendas y están preparados para luchar calle a calle con las fuerzas ucranias, que se aproximan desde hace días a la urbe.
Moscú lleva semanas evacuando a los civiles de la ciudad ante la inminente llegada de la contraofensiva ucrania, cuyas tropas han reconquistado cientos de kilómetros cuadrados en el sur —también en el noreste— y se acercan ahora a la capital de la provincia, que contaba con unos 300.000 habitantes antes de que empezara la guerra. El tráfico de contenedores se hunde en los puertos rusos debido a las sanciones occidentales
El tráfico de contenedores en los puertos rusos ha sufrido una caída drástica en los últimos meses y el de San Petersburgo, que era el más importante del país, solo recibió en octubre el 10% del volumen de hace un año, según un estudio del instituto alemán IfW. El puerto de Novorossiysk, en el Mar Negro, también registró una caída de alrededor del 50% y el de Vladivostok, que es importante para la gestión del comercio de Rusia con Asia, ha alcanzado el volumen de tráfico del año anterior, pero es insuficiente para compensar la caída de los otros del país, según el análisis del Instituto para la Economía Global (IfW).
China ha reemplazado a la Unión Europea como socio comercial más importante de Rusia y en comparación con el año anterior, “exportó un 43% menos de bienes a Rusia y China un 23% más. Sin embargo, el aumento de las exportaciones de China a Rusia perdió impulso en septiembre”, según el instituto alemán. “Hasta ahora, los exportadores de China no han podido compensar el daño causado por las sanciones y los esfuerzos de Rusia para reemplazar la caída de las importaciones desde Europa se están volviendo cada vez más difíciles”, agrega.

Moscú niega la pérdida de cientos de soldados de una unidad de élite en un combate en Ucrania
El Ministerio de Defensa de Rusia ha desmentido este lunes las informaciones publicadas por varios blogueros militares que apuntan a la pérdida de cientos de soldados de una unidad de élite en una ofensiva en el este de Ucrania, según recoge la agencia estatal de noticias RIA.
El Ministerio ha rechazado las afirmaciones de los blogueros según las cuales la 155ª brigada de infantería de marina había sufrido “elevadas e inútiles pérdidas en personas y equipos” y, al revés, ha señalado que la unidad ha avanzado cinco kilómetros en 10 días. El Kremlin niega que los comandantes de la brigada fueran incompetentes y cifra en un 1% las pérdidas de los infantes de marina.

Ucrania confirma que ha recibido un sistema de misiles antiaéreos NASAMS
El Ministerio ucranio de Defensa ha anunciado que ha recibido el primer sistema de misiles antiaéreos NASAMS (acrónimo de Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System, Sistema Noruego Avanzado de Misiles Tierra-Aire) que ha venido reclamando a sus aliados occidentales para defenderse de los ataques de misiles y drones rusos contra sus instalaciones energéticas.
El ministro ucranio de Defensa, Oleksi Reznikov, ha anunciado en su cuenta de Twitter de la llegada de una unidad del sistema NASAMS y de una del sistema italiano Apside con los que “seguir derribando objetivos enemigos que nos atacan”. Además, ha agradecido a Noruega (país que desarrolló el sistema NASAMS), EE UU y España, que anunció hace unos días que proporcionaría a Kiev cuatro lanzaderas de misiles antiaéreos, así como una batería de misiles antiaéreos Aspide, en cuyo manejo se instruyeron en España una veintena de militares ucranios.
En el tono desenfadado que usa habitualmente en Twitter el departamento que dirige, Reznikov comienza su mensaje con la frase “¡Mira quién está aquí!”, para después explicar que “han llegado a Ucrania los sistemas de misiles NASAMS y Aspide!”. A continuación subraya que esos sistemas “reforzarán significativamente” al Ejército ucranio y “harán más seguros” los cielos del país. “Seguiremos derribando los objetivos enemigos que nos atacan”, afirma en referencia a los misiles y drones rusos que han castigado especialmente las infraestructuras energéticas y de agua del país en las últimas semanas.
Aunque no precisa de dónde proceden los sistemas recibidos, agradece su llegada a Noruega, EE UU y España. EE UU anunció hace algunas semanas que proporcionaría a Kiev varios sistemas NASAMS.

El responsable de la ONU ha afirmado en un discurso en la segunda jornada de la COP27 que es “inaceptable, escandaloso y contraproducente” dejar la lucha contra el cambio climático en segundo plano, puesto que “muchos de los conflictos actuales están relacionados con el creciente caos climático”, como es el caso de la invasión rusa de Ucrania.
Según Guterres, ese conflicto ha sacado a la luz los riesgos de la dependencia de los países a los combustibles fósiles, y ha subrayado que estas crisis urgentes no pueden ser “una excusa para la recaída o el lavado verde”. (Efe)

Rusia afirma que sus tropas repelieron ataques de las tropas ucranias en Lugansk y Jersón
El Ministerio de Defensa de Rusia ha afirmado este lunes que sus tropas repelieron ataques de las fuerzas ucranias en la autoproclamada República Popular de Lugansk (RPL) y la provincia de Jersón, en el este y sur de Ucrania, respectivamente. El portavoz del mando militar ruso, general Igor Konashénkov, ha informado en comparecencia de prensa de que durante la pasada jornada dos grupos tácticos de batallón “reforzados con mercenarios” intentaron avanzar hacia las localidades de Nizhnia Duvanka y Svatove de la RPL. “Con ataques de la aviación, fuego de artillería y acciones de las tropas rusas la ofensiva enemiga fue detenida”, ha indicado Konashénkov, que cifró en hasta cien las bajas mortales entre los militares ucranios.
Konashénkov ha añadido que fueron destruidos dos tanques, cinco blindados artillados y cinco camionetas. Konashénkov ha señalado que en el sur, en la región de Jersón, las unidades rusas con apoyo de artillería rechazaron una ofensiva de un grupo táctico de batallón de las Fuerzas Armadas de Ucrania junto a las localidades de Dudchany, Nova Kajovka y Bilohirka. “En ese sector el enemigo fue repelido hasta sus posiciones iniciales”, ha asegurado el portavoz castrense, que añadió que los atacantes sufrieron más de 110 bajas mortales y perdieron once carros blindados y otros trece vehículos. Las autoridades impuestas por Rusia suspenden el transporte fluvial civil en la zona de Jersón. La Administración instalada por Rusia en la provincia ucrania de Jersón (sur) ha suspendido este lunes el cruce del río Dniéper por embarcaciones civiles en la zona de la ciudad de Jersón. La medida, según las autoridades, obedece al término de la evacuación de la población civil de la margen occidental, donde se encuentra Jersón, a la orilla oriental del río, así como al incremento de la amenaza a la seguridad de la población civil. Jersón es uno de los cuatro territorios anexionados por Moscú en septiembre y cuya capital tratan de reconquistar las tropas ucranias.
Al menos siete provincias del país sufren cortes eléctricos este lunes. Siete regiones de Ucrania, entre ellas Kiev y su provincia, sufren este lunes cortes de electricidad por tercer día consecutivo, debidos a los daños causados a la infraestructura energética por los “ataques terroristas rusos”, según ha informado la operadora estatal Ukrenergo. Además de la capital, habrá apagones en Chernihiv, Cherkasi, Yitómir, Sumi, Járkov y Poltava. En las últimas semanas, los bombardeos han dejado al 40% de la infraestructura energética de Ucrania dañada o destruida.

La inteligencia británica sostiene que la falta de superioridad aérea de las tropas del Kremlin se ve exacerbada por el escaso entrenamiento y la pérdida de tripulaciones experimentadas en Rusia. “Es poco probable que esto cambie en los próximos meses. Una unidad de élite rusa que perdió a cientos de soldados en un combate en Ucrania pide investigar cómo se planeó el ataque
Los soldados de una unidad de élite rusa que combate en Ucrania han publicado una carta de protesta por las elevadas bajas sufridas en un ataque que, según afirman, fue planeado de forma incompetente, según recoge el medio ruso independiente Meduza, con sede en Riga. “Los soldados de la Brigada Marina número 155 de la Flota Pacífica enviaron una carta al gobernador de Primorye, Oleg Kozhemyako, quejándose de las acciones del mando, de las que se derivaron grandes bajas” publica dicho medio.
La unidad, con sede en el distrito ruso de Primorye (este), está considerada como una fuerza de asalto de élite que, sin embargo, según la carta, sufrió cientos de bajas y, de acuerdo con otras fuentes, perdió en la citada batalla la mitad de sus vehículos acorazados. En el ataque contra la pequeña localidad de Pavlivka, cerca de Donetsk (en el este de Ucrania), las fuerzas rusas fueron rechazadas por efectivos ucranios que abrieron fuego desde posiciones más elevadas. Esto causó 300 bajas entre muertos y heridos, o incluso 300 muertos, según algunas fuentes.
Las informaciones difundidas por Meduza coinciden con publicaciones en redes sociales que citan la carta de los soldados, así como a testigos de la batalla, que tuvo lugar a finales de octubre. Los miembros de la citada unidad de élite piden al gobernador de Primorye que solicite al comandante en jefe supremo de las fuerzas armadas rusas el envío de una comisión independiente —es decir, no asociada al Ministerio de Defensa— para investigar la debacle.

Más de 1.500 tumbas han sido excavadas desde junio en la ciudad de Mariupol, en el sur de Ucrania y bajo control de las tropas rusas, según imágenes por satélite analizadas por la cadena de televisión británica BBC.
La BBC estima que en total han sido excavadas más de 4.600 tumbas desde el inicio de la guerra, el 24 de febrero. Testigos citados por la cadena de televisión británica han asegurado que han visto durante los últimos meses a representantes de las autoridades rusas instauradas en la ciudad -ahora anexionada a Rusia– retirando cuerpos de entre los escombros de los edificios destruidos. Varios residentes denuncian que hasta ahora no han podido hallar los cadáveres de familiares desaparecidos durante los combates, muchos de los cuales podrían estar en fosas comunes en el centro de la ciudad tras la retirada de cuerpos de las calles durante los enfrentamientos.
Otras personas han relatado que visitaron en verano morgues improvisadas para intentar hallar a sus seres queridos. “La gente debe saber la verdad sobre estos horrores para que no vuelva a pasar”, ha manifestado Tatiana, una mujer residente en la ciudad.
Mariupol, una ciudad portuaria de importancia clave en la guerra, fue un objetivo estratégico de Moscú desde el inicio de la invasión. Las autoridades ucranias afirman que al menos 25.000 personas murieron durante los combates. (EP)
