Big "Wetten, dass ..?" comeback: ZDF bans Thomas Gottschalk from moderating RTL

In the latest issue, however, the "Wetten, dass..?" moderator is missing.

The reason for this: ZDF is said to have forbidden him to moderate the betting show on RTL before it was broadcast.

Hürth – Retirement is a foreign concept for Thomas Gottschalk (72).

The "Wetten, dass..?" presenter with the luscious, blond curly hair can be seen in countless TV productions and presents himself to the television audience as charismatic and in a good mood as ever.

Since 2018 he has been the host alongside Barbara Schöneberger (48) and Günther Jauch (66) in the RTL format “Because they don’t know what’s happening” – and throws himself into nerve-wracking games with his prominent colleagues.

In the previous six episodes of the current season of "Because you don't know what's happening", a number of well-known guests were invited with Beatrice Egli (34), Giovanni Zarrella (44) and Lukas Podolski (37).

The anticipation for the latest edition of the successful show on November 5 should therefore certainly have been great.

So it is all the more disappointing that at the beginning of the show only a beaming Barbara Schöneberger appears in front of the cheering studio audience – and there is no trace of Günther Jauch and Thomas Gottschalk.

It's the TV comeback of the year: On November 19, "Wetten, dass...?" will finally be on TV again.

Thomas Gottschalk is of course present as moderator.

Showmaster Günther explains via video call that he is stuck at home with Corona, while presenter legend Thomas reports from the beach in shorts and a sweater: “I took an advanced surfing course here in Malibu and tonight there is a show.

I definitely want to win that.” But Barbara Schöneberger and the spectators don't seem to believe him that much.

"Thomas Gottschalk, the werewolf," theorizes one fan on Twitter, while another writes critically: "He's hardly going to be really surfing.

Not really nice of him to RTL.”

The craziest bets on "Wetten, dass..?"

Ever since the first episode of "Wetten, dass..?" flickered across screens on February 14, 1981, the TV studio has been the scene of some bizarre and startling bets.

In 1988, Thomas Rautenberg claimed that he could tell the color of crayons by smell and even succeeded - which of course was completely cheated.

In 1997, Nico Haddad managed to put out a burning hut with just a blow out and five liters of water.

In 2007 Gerhard Donie managed to place 20 plungers by throwing them on the backs of 10 men.

In the latest episode of the audience's favourite, many exciting betting projects are likely to be at the start again.

As suspected, the reason for Thomas Gottschalk's absence is far more complicated than a competition among surfers.

After the big spectacle on the 40th anniversary of "Wetten, dass..?" was a sensational success last year, the forthcoming comeback is likely to break similar records.

But until the time comes and Thomas Gottschalk and Michelle Hunziker (45) can again solemnly announce "Top, the bet counts", he can first climb the podium at the next surfing competitions.

Celebrity colleague Giovanni Zarrella, on the other hand, suffered a bitter defeat, because his hit show on ZDF was outperformed by an ARD film.
