As part of the Weeks of Tolerance, the "One Million Stars" campaign is taking place at the Ebersberg Caritas Center in Grafing.

The collected donations benefit migrant children from Venezuela

District – The Caritas Center Ebersberg is again participating in the “One Million Stars” campaign as part of the “Weeks of Tolerance” this year.

On the square in front of the Caritas Center in Grafing, Bahnhofstrasse 1, candles can be purchased for a donation next Saturday, November 12, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

They are then made to shine together and the square is transformed into a radiant sea of lights.

A little something to eat and drink will be provided.

The collected donations benefit the migrant children from Venezuela.

They are called the “invisibles”: around 250,000 children and young people who fled from Venezuela to Colombia with their parents.

You don't show up in any Colombian school, on any sports field, at any doctor's office.

Her parents came to visit or crossed the green border and stayed.

Now they live in settlements of mud huts and shacks with no electricity or water supply, such as the Nueva Alianza settlement.

Here, a total of 92 families are trying to make their settlement a more dignified home.

They are supported by a religious community and local aid organizations.

They all work together to make life more bearable and create a place where young people - from toddlers to single mothers - dare to dream of a better future again.

"A total of 3.4 billion people worldwide live below the poverty line," says Martina Erfmann, Caritas specialist service manager for refugee and integration advice.

"With the campaign we are trying to draw attention to global poverty and to support young migrant children from Venezuela," and further: "We are very happy when many visitors set an example with us and ignite a light for a more just world , come by!” red
