A 56-year-old hunter died, shot and killed during a hunting trip in the Monieux forest near Carpentras (Vaucluse), the gendarmerie told AFP on Sunday, citing an accident.

The hunter who fired the shot was taken into police custody as part of the investigation opened for "
manslaughter
" in order to clarify "

", the Carpentras prosecutor's office told AFP.

The two men were hunting together, one wanted to shoot a deer and hit
