The local authorities in the US state of California announced that the number of victims of the recent storms that struck the state has risen to 14, and thousands of residents have begun evacuations to escape the repercussions of heavy rains and widespread floods.
And the Associated Press quoted state officials as saying today: The victims of the series of storms that hit the state rose from 12 to 14 people, and evacuation orders were issued for about 32,000 people living in Santa Cruz County near rivers and streams flooded with rain, in addition to the evacuation of 10,000 others. In Santa Barbara County for the same reasons, tens of thousands of people remained without electricity and some schools closed their doors.
And the National Meteorological Authority expected in a statement that heavy rains will continue, which may lead to an exacerbation of the situation and the continuation of floods and landslides, adding that according to meteorologists, another storm is likely to hit the state within the next few days.
