A woman was killed and more than twenty homes were damaged today as a result of an earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale that struck Nepal.
Reuters quoted the US Geological Survey as saying: "The tremor occurred at a depth of 25 km and 63 km northwest of the Gumla district, which is more than 300 km from the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu."
Officials reported that rescue teams and police rushed to the affected area, while local media showed pictures of volunteers clearing rubble in search of survivors.
An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale killed nearly 9,000 people in Nepal in 2015.
