A free bazaar recently took place in the Dorfen clubhouse: the concept was well received by the visitors.

The organizers Beatrice Wagner and Antonia Gerber are also satisfied.

Icking – Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, the streets around the clubhouse in Dorfen are full of parked cars.

A few minutes ago the free bazaar started in the building on Attenhauser Straße.

A look inside the house shows that the hall is well filled – both with goods and with many visitors.

Free bazaar in Icking: "Open less than 15 minutes - and the tables are already thinning"

The organizers Beatrice Wagner and Antonia Gerber have placed themselves directly at the entrance area.

They're beaming from ear to ear.

"I think it's great.

We haven't been open for 15 minutes yet - and the tables are already thinning," enthuses Wagner.

The concept of the campaign is simple: all items can be taken away for free.

The owners of the items offered had to register in advance and commit themselves to picking up everything that was left over at the end.

There are several clothes rails in one corner.

Dresses, jackets, blouses and sweaters hang on it.

They are sorted by increasing size.

Various household items are spread out on a table in the middle of the room: everything is there, from a raclette grill and porcelain dishes to a drinking bottle.

Books, DVDs and bicycle helmets are stacked next to it.

The visitors are just as motley as the range: men, women, young and old. A total of eight moving boxes with items to give away were given to the organizers.

Free bazaar in Icking: organizers want to reduce waste and save resources

Wagner describes herself and her comrade-in-arms as "two like-minded people".

It is important to both women to reduce waste and save resources.

Wagner is a founding member of the Ickinger materials exchange and at the same time chairwoman of the Bund Naturschutz Icking.

Therefore, the event runs under the umbrella of the organization.

Gerber has already organized several smaller free bazaars.

Ulrike Steinmetz marches straight to Beatrice Wagner: "Excuse me, where can I find children's clothes?" The organizer points to the left.

Steinmetz nods in relief.

"It's such a great campaign," says the woman from Icking.

“I still had a lot of toys left over from my grandchildren.

I handed them all in here.” In return, she now takes “a few clothes” with the little one.

In the meantime, an extremely satisfied older man, with two packs of CD cases under his arm, is heading towards the exit.

He stops briefly in front of Gerber.

He proudly presents his treasures.

"I'm always looking for them, but now you rarely get them," he says - and sets off on his way home.

It's heartbreaking to simply throw away good things that are no longer needed.

Antonia Gerber, organizer of the free bazaar

Antonia Gerber looks after him happily.

"It hurts everyone's soul to just throw away good things that are no longer needed," she says.

The only thing missing is the right infrastructure.

This is exactly what Gerber wants to create with campaigns such as the free bazaar.

The two organizers agree on another point: the free bazaar in the clubhouse will not be the last.
