María Luisa
is the first new work by Juan Mayorga since he took over the artistic direction of La Abadía.
It is a comedy about loneliness, about old age, and about the blurred boundaries between reality and imagination.
The protagonist is an elderly lady who lives alone, independent, and who enjoys life.
A casual conversation with the doorman of her house is the trigger for a succession of scenes that, with humor, allow us to discover the world of this curious lady up close.
Life is a party,
which can be seen these days at the Teatros del Canal in Madrid, it unleashes laughter, surprises, disconcerts, disturbs and amazes its performers, but exhausts because underneath there is no solid dramaturgy.
So that the montage at times seems more like a succession of
sketches
with no other objective than to distribute kicks left and right.
Very gross and all very good, but the whole ends up tiring

Dalet (Da)
, by the choreographer and dancer Daniel Abreu, is a show that plays with the idea of passage, of existential transhumance, of search and displacement, something that he has already dealt with in previous works such as El hijo (2020)
and
El
arco
( 2022).
Through these themes he builds a demanding, expansive and collected dance, which finds one of its meanings in precision and the most contemporary lyricism.
