How the Met Gala Became New York's 'Party of the Year'

Sunday evening in New York, on the side of Fifth Avenue, the Metropolitan Museum of Art exceptionally closed its doors to the public to host the high fashion mass of the year: the Met Gala.

An evening broadcast in mondovision, which kicks off the spring exhibition of the Costume Institute, the fashion department of the New York museum, this year dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019. Since its creation at the end of the 1940s, this exceptional event has therefore always celebrated fashion and those who make it, and this, for a good cause.

Without her, the Met Gala would not exist.

"Elle" is Eleanor Lambert, a formidable American publicist, who brought rain and shine to the fashion industry until her death in 2003. It is to this great lady that we owe the New York Fashion Week and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) - equivalent to our Fashion and Haute Couture Federation.
