New details: Information obtained by Israel Hayom indicates that it was the office of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir that assigned him as a speaker at the European Union's Europe Day event many weeks ago.
Ben-Gvir, this week: "The Likud also made promises"
This was done as part of a routine division of representative events among government ministers. The Cabinet Secretariat displays in WhatsApp groups to the ministerial offices the events in which representation is required. Each minister chooses his favorite events, with the Cabinet Secretariat not interfering in the elections.
The same happened with Europe Day. According to government sources, the government secretariat was not aware of Ben-Gvir's choice to speak on Europe Day and therefore could not prevent his arrival.
As you may recall, after the farce that ensued, the organizers of the event announced the cancellation of the speeches. Ben-Gvir called the move "undiplomatic gagging."
Ben-Gvir's response will be submitted when received.
