Everyone is hiding, they are scared," laments a concerned parliamentarian. Would the right be afraid? One year before the European elections, it gives the impression of observing the deadline with fear, to the point of reducing the election to a bad time to pass. Among Les Républicains (LR), still haunted by the disappointing result of the last European elections, where the list led by François-Xavier Bellamy had won only 8.48% of the vote, the most pessimistic fear a "slap" in due form.
Less than 5%, fear some, still reeling from the failure in the presidential election. This annoys Rachida Dati, president of the LR National Council: "Our way of approaching the European elections is a symptom of trauma. But as soon as you fall on horseback, you have to get back in the saddle immediately, because if you wait too long, you never get back up."
The argument is clear. But there is also this reality: the competition for LR, already fierce yesterday, is even more so today...
