It is an emblem almost as contested as the retirement age of 64: the European flag. The Renaissance group fractured the hemicycle on Tuesday, and probably Wednesday evening when the debates resumed, by proposing a law to oblige town halls to hang the blue flag with yellow stars on their facades. Apart from the hostility of the opposition, the bill (PPL) also met with the reluctance of MoDem deputies, who, in committee last week, abstained at the time of the vote. "We considered that it was not an essential text," said the boss of the group, Jean-Paul Mattei. Since then, the majority leaders have exchanged to round off the corners.
