The very poor walk of Vélez in the Professional Football League had this Friday a not too comforting tail for the squad led by Ricardo Gareca, since a group of members of the barra brava was sent to training to demand from the players a quick rudder stroke.
According to partisan journalists who are aware of the daily life of the Liniers team, the visit took place this Friday morning at the Olympic Village of Ituzaingó, where the players were training with their sights focused on the duel that on Monday they will play with Rosario Central in the José Amalfitani for the 16th date of the domestic tournament.
Twelve supporters distributed in three vehicles entered the premises. They did so after breaking the barrier of one of the accesses and went non-stop to the sector where the players were exercising. There they asked to dialogue with the most experienced men of the group: Captain Lautaro Giannetti, Diego Godín, Lucas Pratto, Lucas Janson, José Florentín and Walter Bou.
The exchange was brief, no more than 10 minutes. The fans took the lead, extremely dissatisfied with the performance of the team in their last presentations. The drivers of the grandstand demanded greater commitment from the players and immediate results. They left before the police arrived.
Velez's present is quite pale and, so far, Ricardo Gareca, who took over as coach on March 8 replacing Uruguayan Alexander Medina, has been able to change it. Since then, Fortín played nine matches, of which they won only one, drew five and lost three.
"We're beaten, it's like that. We are not in a good moment and it is not ideal. Because everyone in Velez is bad, but we are going to try to move forward. We compete until they score a goal and then we fall. We have to work on that aspect," Gareca said on Sunday, after the 2-0 loss to Estudiantes in La Plata.
The Liniers team, which is 22nd in the Professional Football League with only 16 points in 15 presentations, will receive on Monday at 20.30 to Rosario Central, which is seventh with 26 units. In that duel, the Fortín will try to cut a streak of seven games without wins. The last one was 4-0 against Central Córdoba at the José Amalfitani on March 21 for the eighth round of the contest.
