A rare statement: As part of the Ziv Aviram Foundation competition for startups in the Middle East, currently being held in Marrakech, Morocco, former US President Bill Clinton was a guest. "I worry about Israel, very much," former President Clinton said at an event Tuesday evening. "It's a country I love. Today in the world we live in, unfortunately all over the world people who show us how different we are from each other are more successful than others. That's really true for the whole world."

Former President Clinton also referred to the ceasefire between Israel and Gaza after Operation Shield and Arrow. "The ceasefire in Gaza is important, is this the end of the problems? Not at all. But it gives time for reflection, because while people don't kill each other, they have time to think and talk. There are no absolute victories and no total losses, and in the Middle East everything is temporary because there are always challenges." The former president added: "I think the younger generation in the Middle East needs to meet and talk about work and also about their political problems, to find out that they are not so different."
Andrei Azoulay, Jewish advisor to the King of Morocco and part of the team that also dealt with the Oslo Accords in the 1990s: "As far as we are concerned, what is happening here is a dream come true. Mr. Clinton, you have been a hero and still are our hero, given your past efforts in the Middle East. We were so close to making history, we had everything it took to change the Middle East but the vision will guide us and eventually it will come back, and there will be another attempt at peace. In the end, Jews and Palestinians will have to learn to live together. The Palestinians need their dignity and their freedom, but they need to remember that whatever happens, they need Israelis."
