The ABC team had previously contacted animal welfare services. But instead of waiting for them, one of the technicians did not hesitate to grab a shovel to dig into the foundation and clear the animal's head. The dog was finally able to put the truffle back in the fresh air while he had been stuck under the rubble for long hours. Journalists also gave him a piece of dried meat to lure him outside.
