Highlights: Shavuot this year will be much more expensive, according to an examination we conducted ahead of the holiday. The prices of supervised dairy products have also recently risen by 8.28 per cent. Price's examined a basket that includes 16 dairy products for the whole family, including cheeses, delicacies and even alternative products. The price of the products was checked on 22 May compared to 1 June 6, i.e. three days before the holiday, and rates also include promotions.

The prices of supervised milk have risen, as have the prices of dairy products • As a result, this holiday we will pay more in most chains for our basket of products, according to an examination we conducted ahead of Shavuot • All data

Shavuot this year will be much more expensive, against the background of the significant price increases in the dairy sector, carried out by all dairies before the holiday. In addition, the prices of supervised dairy products have also recently risen by 8.28 per cent.

Tnuva raised the average price by 4.65%, Strauss by an average of 2.33%, Tara by an average of 7%, and Gad by 5%. However, it should be remembered that this is an average rate, and in the products themselves there are larger gaps.

An examination we conducted through Price's shows that the same basket this year will be significantly more expensive than last year's holiday, and can reach up to 10%. However, it is necessary to consider the current price and check where the cheapest basket is offered.

Shavuot this year will be much more expensive,

Rami Levy showed an increase of 4.5% compared to Shavuot last year.

Rami Levy told Israel Hayom: "If it's a 4.5% increase, then it means that pricing hasn't gone up because we know that prices have risen by more than 4.5%. We still haven't raised prices a second time, even though suppliers have gone up."

"We did specials"

"It's possible that in cases where there is an increase, we did in-depth promotions on other products compared to last year. We do it according to consumer demand. We are absorbing the various increases this year because of the holiday and to reach out to consumers. Until now, as mentioned, we have not raised prices, and after the holiday we will examine everything on its merits.

"In the meantime, we imported butter under our private label, which has been on the shelf since last Sunday and we sell it for 7.5 shekels until after the holiday – it's very cheap. We sell butter on sale in order to lower the price of butter in Israel compared to competitors. The problem in the industry is that there are shortages in regular butter, and on the other hand, competitors import another product at a high price.

"We are now selling the butter on sale, but even later on the price will be much cheaper than with competitors. We import the product from Poland. This is a quality product, and we make do with a low profit. The competitors sell the products to the chains, we save this hand. I imported because there is a lack of butter. We brought a large quantity and we will import all the time regularly."

Another source in the industry commented on the price increase in the industry, saying: "There was an increase in prices for supervised products, after which all the dairies raised the prices of the unregulated products one after the other.

Now, as Shavuot approaches, even if the price of a product has increased at the unit level, there is a high chance that it will have a 2+1 sale or a second product, so the consumer is not necessarily paying a higher price than last year.

"After the holiday, when the number of promotions decreases, it is likely that the price per item will rise accordingly. There are products now that some retailers don't upload to stay attractive for weeks."
