The children's ready-to-wear company Vertbaudet had never experienced a strike. It was not until the 60th anniversary of this mythical brand, founded in northern France in 1963, that a social movement lasting nearly 70 days put it in the media spotlight, with great reinforcement of union-political indignation. Some 72 employees have been demonstrating day after day since March 20 in front of the Vertbaudet logistics warehouse in Marquette-lez-Lille, between Lille and Tourcoing. In this vast hangar, which sits in the middle of a landscape of red bricks and white tailles, 327 employees are busy day and night to prepare all orders before they are shipped to the four corners of Europe.
