An event marking American Independence Day is taking place tonight (Monday) at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the events of the day in Jenin and northern Samaria in his speech. "In recent months, Jenin has become a haven for terror. We are not willing to accept this – and we are putting an end to it. At this time, our forces are acting forcefully and decisively in Jenin. Soldiers of the commando brigade, Border Police, Special Forces, Air Force and others are currently operating in the heart of the Jenin refugee camp.
"There are no places immune to terrorism - not in Gaza, not in Judea and Samaria - not anywhere. We act against the terrorists, with a constant effort to avoid harming uninvolved civilians. We initiate and surprise, we change and innovate, we set a new equation vis-à-vis terrorism. All the time. Operation Home and Garden will continue as long as necessary, until the mission is completed."

In his speech, President Herzog referred to the operation taking place in Jenin: "Once again, the State of Israel is forced to deal with hatred and terror. I want to send reinforcement and strength to the brave IDF soldiers and security forces currently operating in Jenin. They risk their lives to protect the people of Israel and all of us from terror.
They do everything to preserve innocent lives under such difficult circumstances. I pray that they finish their mission and return home safely. We also pray that our nations will be united, together, in the fight against terrorism. We share hope for the ultimate goal: peace and prosperity, even when we fight."
