Moshe Redman, one of the leaders of the demonstrations against the judicial reform and Netanyahu's government, opposes the restaurateurs' decision to open their restaurants on Tisha B'Av in protest of the government's conduct.

"Ask restaurateurs for joining the fight, but in my humble opinion, this is not the way," Redman tweeted on Wednesday. "The 9th of Av is not a time for the religious zealots who lead this government, it is a date for the entire Jewish people, wherever they may be. It is right to protest against signs of usurpation/ultra-Orthodox activity such as Badatz or kashrut supervisors or the Rabbinate, but not against Jewish holidays and holidays."

MK Matan Kahane of the State Camp also appealed to the restaurateurs: "I ask the restaurant owners who plan to open on Tisha B'Av not to do so. Tisha B'Av marks the terrible internal rift that led to the discovery that only 75 years ago we recovered from it. I ask you to rise above the desire to take revenge on the government for the divisive way it is leading us. Don't play into the hands of the extremist elements that are trying to plunge us into further destruction."

Meanwhile, Tel Aviv mayoral candidate Reuven Ladyansky demanded that Mayor Ron Huldai not issue fines to owners of restaurants and entertainment venues that will be open on the night of Tisha B'Av. "Especially these days, when everyone's freedom is in real danger, the municipality should support any restaurant or café that chooses to open on the eve of Tisha B'Av," he said.

Ladyansky added: "When the ultra-Orthodox and messianic politicians led by Ben-Gvir, Smotrich, Avi Maoz and Gafni are leading Israel to the destruction of the Third Temple, by passing dictatorial laws that harm millions of Israeli citizens and everything that is dear to the secular and liberal public, the Tel Aviv municipality must not be the one that abuses the public and harms businesses in the city."
