The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a temporary budget aimed at preventing the government shutdown, which is scheduled to begin tonight at midnight (between Saturday and Sunday).
The 45-day budget includes coverage for natural disasters, but does not include U.S. aid to Ukraine. The approved motion was introduced by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who faced rebellion from his Republican colleagues.
The provisional budget still requires Senate approval before it is submitted to the president for signature.
