Israeli President Isaac Herzog met Tuesday with the families of abductees and missing persons held by the Hamas terrorist organization at the president's residence in Jerusalem. Also participating in the meeting was Brig. Gen. (res.) Gal Hirsch, who is in charge of the issue of abductees and missing persons. Also in attendance were representatives of the soldiers' families, Goldin Shaul.
President Herzog said at the end of the meeting: "I have just concluded a moving and painful meeting with the families of the abductees and missing in the difficult battle in which the State of Israel finds itself – those who do not know the fate of their loved ones and those who have been informed of their presence in the hands of the cruel enemy. It was a difficult and painful meeting, but even in it – the strong, amazing spirit of the families and of Israeli society was present in full force."

"Israel is committed to the security, lives and well-being of its citizens – both when they are attacked by murderous and cruel human monsters, and when they are kidnapped and taken prisoner," he continued. "I would like to emphasize: The entire responsibility lies with the despicable murderers of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, who will not lose a hair from their heads, and who will return home unconditionally. The entire international community must be committed to the firm demand for the immediate return of our daughters and sons to their homes unconditionally. This is a basic and binding humanitarian and human duty."
The meeting was attended by Brig. Gen. (res.) Gal Hirsch, who is in charge of the issue of abductees and missing persons, who presented the principles of his operation. There is now an enormous effort underway, involving thousands of people to meet all the needs of families; And I hope that soon contact will be made with the thousands of applicants as promised.
