The Associated Press reported Wednesday that senior U.S. Senator Michael McCaul, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told reporters that three days before Hamas' surprise attack, Egypt had warned Israel against it.

"We know that Egypt warned the Israelis three days before the events," the Republican senator from Texas told reporters after a closed briefing by U.S. intelligence officials to lawmakers. I don't want to get into classified information right away, but the warning was given," he says, "the only question is to which level."
This report comes against the backdrop of reports in Israel about such a warning, and vigorous and public denials of such a warning in Israel – including by Netanyahu himself.
