French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday that he intends to visit Israel following the Hamas terrorist attack. Macron has not set a date for his visit to Israel.
"I will come to the region when there is an effective agenda and very concrete actions to take there," Macron said in a statement to the media.
Meanwhile, Macron spoke by phone today with his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raisi, and made it clear to him that it is everyone's duty to unequivocally condemn the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas in Israel and Israel's right to defend itself, and that the terrorist groups that harmed civilians must be eliminated.
Macron told Raisi that there were French and French women among the victims and hostages held by the terrorist group. "Their release is France's top priority," Macron said.
Macron reportedly warned President Raisi against any escalation or expansion of the conflict, especially in Lebanon. Iran, in light of its relations with Hezbollah and Hamas, bears responsibility in this regard. Iran must do everything possible to avoid any regional conflagration.
