An unsuccessful prank: Over the weekend, in the evening, the Israel Police received a complaint about messages distributed to a number of Afula residents that read: "Hello Zionist, we are waiting to meet you, we are on our way from Jenin to conquer Afula. To go quickly to the west of the city, they don't want to harm civilians, Hamas = ISIS."
As soon as the complaint was received, a quick investigation was launched, during which the details of the suspect in distributing the message, a Jewish resident of the city in his 20s, were identified. Afula police officers came to his home and arrested him.
The suspect said during interrogation that he had done a prank. His detention was extended at the Nazareth Magistrate's Court until today, and in accordance with the findings of the investigation, he will be brought before a judge again today with a request by the police to extend his detention.
The Israel Police will continue to deal decisively with those who try to create panic among the public over the war, and will act to bring these elements to justice.
