State Comptroller Matanyahu Engelman visited Tiberias on Sunday evening, where he met with residents evacuated from their homes on the northern border and the Gaza envelope, and heard their testimonies ahead of a comprehensive report to be prepared at the end of the fighting. Engelman made the visit as part of his tours since the outbreak of the war along the conflict lines in the south and north.

The comptroller heard the evacuees' arguments mainly regarding the economic uncertainty in the absence of an economic plan for the home front, the lack of educational frameworks for youth, and immediate needs that are not met in the field of mental health care. Tiberias Mayor Boaz Yosef said at the meeting that his city received only NIS 1.4 million to renovate shelters in the city.

In addition, the issue of the lack of budgetary authorizations from other government ministries to finance municipal activities for the benefit of the evacuees at this time was raised. This is despite the fact that the municipality hosts about 9,000 evacuees from the north and south.
State Comptroller Engelman strongly criticized the government's failure to deal with critical civil issues for Israeli residents, especially residents of the conflict lines and evacuees.
"The government is failing to deal with the home front," he said. "The lack of an economic plan and the lack of a project in the fourth week of the war, in circumstances in which hundreds of residents of the southern and northern settlements were evacuated from their homes – are a significant failure and malfunction that cannot be justified. The uncertainty harms residents of the south and north. There is no room for power struggles at this time. The prime minister and the ministers must urgently get into the thick of what is happening and solve the problems immediately."
