Jared Kushner, former son-in-law and adviser to former U.S. President Donald Trump, testified Sunday that Saudi Arabia is "safer" for American Jews than American universities following anti-Israel protests across the United States.

"It's ironic that as an American Jew you're safer in Saudi Arabia now than on a campus like Columbia University," Kushner told Fox News. "I spoke at a conference in Saudi Arabia. They allowed me to speak freely."

Kushner said he had recently returned from a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he felt "very disgusted" by the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas.

The debate over Israel's war against Hamas has reared its head in recent days, and demonstrations and student rallies have been held at many American universities.

Hundreds of students held rallies at Columbia University in New York as supporters of both sides protested against each other. The Columbia University campus was also closed to prevent a violent flare-up between the sides.
