25 days after fighting between Israel and Hamas began, Selena Gomez breaks her silence. On Monday, Gomez, 31, posted a short story on her Instagram account in which she shared her feelings about the situation, refraining from explicitly supporting one side or the other and expressing mainly "shock at hatred, terrorism and violence."

"I took a break from social media because it breaks my heart to see the horror, hatred, violence and terror taking place in the world," she wrote in a story she shared with her 430 million followers.
"People being tortured and killed or any act of hatred against any group is horrific. We must protect all people, especially children, and stop the violence once and for all. I apologize if my words are never good enough for everyone or for a hashtag. I just can't stand innocent people getting hurt. It sickens me. I wish I could change the world, but Post won't," she wrote.
Hours after this story was published, Gomez added another short story in which she wrote: "As someone who has a sister (Gomez has two half-sisters), every day makes me sick from the tragedies. I will do anything for children and innocent lives."
