The commander of the Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman, yesterday assessed the situation inside the Gaza Strip with the fighting forces. This evening (Tuesday), the IDF published the words of the commander of the 162nd Division, Brigadier General Itzik Cohen, to the brigade's fighters, soldiers and commanders in the order to enter a ground attack in Gaza.

"Hoshen stations here at the top," he contacted them. "On October 7, on the morning of Shabbat and Simchat Torah, the vile enemy launched a murderous and despicable terrorist attack against children, women, men and the elderly. We didn't choose this battle, the enemy wanted it. The eyes of the entire world are on us, the people of Israel trust us and stand behind us."
"Tonight, many forces of the 162nd Division and Southern Command set out to obtain and destroy the hand sent to strangle our necks," the commander of the command referred to what is expected. "We will strike our enemies with the force of steel like a fist united together, there is no mission we cannot undertake, there is no terrorist in whom we will not be disabled."
"I pledge to be by your side on the battlefield, shoulder to shoulder, we will not return home until we complete the mission that has been fully assigned to us – good luck." He finished with an excited face.

The words of the commander of the steel division in the order to enter Gaza are based, among other things, on the historical combat page of the commander of the steel division in the Six-Day War, the late Major General Israel Tal (Talik), whose division fought in Rafah and occupied the Gaza Strip.
