Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Tuesday chose the CEO of the Israel Community Centers Company, Tal Basaks, to serve as the civilian project manager for the war, after Meir Spiegler, CEO of the Israel Electric Corporation, withdrew his candidacy last week.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance stated: "Tal Basaks, who currently serves as CEO of the Community Center Company, was chosen for the position due to his professional experience in managing complex multi-partner projects, in-depth familiarity and ongoing work with government ministries and local government. Baskes will bring his managerial experience to include work and management of the civilian UAV.

"Tal Baskes brings with him extensive experience in senior management in organizations with public and business activity. Baskes will take up his position immediately and will be placed on unpaid leave from his position at the Community Center Company after receiving all the necessary approvals, in order to immediately join the war effort to establish the civilian UAV."

It added: "The civilian control center will be responsible for formulating a continuous picture of the situation regarding the functional continuity of the government and the economy and the needs of the home front deriving from the war and for coordination and synchronization between the various ministries, and will coordinate the work of the socio-economic cabinet and the implementation of its decisions. Baskes will begin his work this morning and join the socio-economic cabinet meeting that will take place today, and later convene the directors general of the government ministries, Rachel and the Home Front Command to cut the situation. As part of his role at the command center, Baskes will hold a frequent public briefing and answer journalists' questions regarding the civilian conduct of the war."
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said of the choice: "I thank Tal for standing up for the flag and enlisting in the mission. Tal has extensive managerial knowledge and experience. I am confident that his capabilities will contribute greatly to synchronizing all the government efforts required to deal with the home front. Government ministers and ministries have been working hard and well since the war broke out and are all harnessed to the effort, and the UAV does not replace them, but will only help integrate and improve the work interfaces between the ministries. Together, God willing, we will win!"
