Victor came to the aid of Luna, a 6-year-old shepherd dog, as she was stranded on a cliff in fear.

Luna has a new master in Victor. This 28-year-old man rescued this 6-year-old dog on Saturday when she was stuck on a cliff "at the level of the small port of Pors Loubous", in Plogoff (Finistère), reports Le Télégramme.

While walking by the sea, Victor suddenly heard "a dog whimpering", as storm Céline hit the coast of Brittany. "I looked everywhere and that's when I saw him, halfway up the cliff. I wondered how he could have gotten there," the young man said.

Abseiling to rescue the dog

After climbing up to the dog, Victor realized that he couldn't come back down with the animal in his arms. He then made the decision to pick up ropes from his nearby home, as well as climbing equipment.

The 28-year-old, who is used to abseiling, did everything he could to help the dog: "I hooked the rope to the top of the cliff and started the descent. I made him a harness with straps and took him with me," he told Le Télégramme.

Once on dry land, the little dog was frightened and struggled to walk, despite the liter and a half of water that Victor quickly offered him. So with a friend, they took him to the veterinary clinic. Clinical examination determined that the animal was a 6-year-old female shepherd, but she is neither tattooed nor microchipped. An injury to his left front leg was examined and treated but "nothing serious," the veterinarian said.

With the owner nowhere to be found, Victor decided to adopt Luna

Victor then launched an appeal on social media to try to find the dog's owner. A specialized investigator from the SPA also assisted him in his efforts to identify the dog's family.

They manage to trace back to the testimony of a young woman, according to which the dog's name is Luna. His disappearance does not appear to have been reported. Since coming to her rescue, Victor has taken care of Luna unceremoniously and is now considering adopting her: "At first, I thought I couldn't. I thought I'd find a family for him in my circle. Now, when I see the confidence she gives me... " the young man acknowledged.
