A unified message with Israel at the summit in Jordan: "A ceasefire with Hamas right now will allow it to regroup and repeat the attack of October 7," Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Saturday, meeting with Jordanian and Egyptian foreign ministers in Amman.
"Hamas must be defeated," the secretary of state said. The comments come after yesterday's secretary of state made remarks that were less in line with Israel's messages, calling for a humanitarian pause (not a cessation of the war) and the entry of fuel into Gaza.
Blinken on visit to Israel: "We watched the horrors of Hamas, we also saw Palestinian children hurt; An immediate humanitarian pause is needed."
Blinken added in Amman: "We have spoken to the Israeli government that every possible measure must be taken to avoid harm to civilians and to ensure that those in need of assistance receive it."
Earlier, the IDF Spokesperson reported that Hamas had attacked IDF forces opening humanitarian corridors in Gaza.
