Western-funded antisemitism and hatred: While the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, UN Watch is releasing a new report exposing how UNRWA teachers in Gaza, funded primarily by the US and EU, indoctrinate Palestinian children and promote terrorism and anti-Semitism.

Titled "UNRWA: Hatred Begins Here," the report reveals 20 UNRWA teachers and other staff who praised the 7 October massacre on their social media accounts, as discovered by UN Watch, an independent Geneva-based human rights monitoring organization.

The new cases are in addition to 133 UNRWA educators and staff previously exposed promoting hatred and violence in the latest UN Watch report, published in March 2023. UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer will present the full report Wednesday before the U.S. Congress. Yesterday, the document was submitted to senior officials in the European Union and the US administration.

UN Watch calls on the agency's major funders – including the United States, Germany, Britain and the European Union – to ensure that none of UNRWA's $1.6 billion donations fund teachers of hatred, and to hold the agency accountable to them.

The terrorist "Prince of Khan Yunis"

Among the educators who used their social media accounts to spread hatred and celebrate the Hamas terrorist attack on 7 October was Osama Ahmad, a teacher at an UNRWA school in Gaza, who wrote: "Allah is great, Allah is great, reality surpasses our wildest dreams" during the massacre.

The director of the UNRWA school, Iman Hassan, justified the massacre, calling it a "restoration of rights" and "correction" of Palestinian "complaints."

Rawiya Hals, director of the UNRWA training center in Khan Yunis, who also appears in an UNRWA campaign, glorified one of the terrorists as a "hero" and "the prince of Khan Yunis."

UNRWA English teacher Asma Rafiq Kohil excitedly posted: "7, October, 2023! Sculpt the date!", adding a heart emoji.

The report only examined a sample of Facebook users who publicly identified themselves as UNRWA employees, so UN Watch estimates that the number of UNRWA personnel inciting violence and hatred includes hundreds, if not thousands, of the agency's 30,000 personnel.

Hate lessons

"UNRWA's hate teachers are mostly funded by Western countries that contribute the lion's share of UNRWA's $1.6 billion budget. The amounts pledged for 2022 included $344 million from the US, $122 million from Germany, $107 million from the European Commission, $61 million from Sweden, $17 million from the UK, $24 million from Switzerland, $32 million from Norway, $28 million from France, $24 million from Canada, and $15 million from the Netherlands.

"We call on the governments that fund UNRWA to announce that they will stop allowing a system that teaches new generations of Palestinians to hate and murder Jews," the organization said.

"The hatred that led to the October 7 massacre did not appear out of nowhere. It was stamped in UNRWA schools for many years. One of the Hamas terrorists who massacred Israeli families was even found carrying his UNRWA card, massacring innocent civilians.

"The US, EU, Germany, UK, Canada and other donor countries cannot morally send more money to UNRWA until it shows a genuine commitment to basic norms of education in its schools. This means that the agency must publicly condemn UNRWA employees who incite terrorism and antisemitism, remove them from their positions, and create an independent and impartial investigation of its entire staff," said Hillel Neuer, President and Executive Director of UN Watch.
