On October 20, a smuggler fled from the police and crashed into a tree. He then escaped on foot. Now he has been caught.

Bayerisch Gmain – On Friday, October 20, a serious accident occurred in front of a primary school in Bayerisch Gmain, Berchtesgadener Land district. A smuggler had previously fled from the police with his vehicle, in which another four people had been.

Serious accident in front of primary school – smuggler was able to flee

During the journey, the smuggler is said to have instructed his passengers to remove their seatbelts in order to be able to quickly leave the vehicle and flee on foot as soon as he stopped. When he then braked in front of a primary school in Bayerisch Gmain, the driver lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. The driver and three people were then able to flee, leaving one person unconscious in the car.

Forensic technicians from the Federal Police Inspectorate Freilassing immediately took a look at the vehicle and secured evidence. Now the investigators have been able to report a success, as the Federal Police announced in a press release on Thursday afternoon, November 9: The wanted smuggler could be identified and arrested.

Arrest in Wuppertal: Success for the Federal Police after accident in Bavaria

According to the press release, on the morning of October 21, Federal Police officers searched the apartment of the alleged accident driver in Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia. "A lot of evidence was seized. However, the suspect was not initially encountered," it said.
