Dozens of women demonstrated Monday morning near UN observer headquarters in Jerusalem to protest the silence of UN women on the horrific crimes committed against Israeli women during the October 7 massacre. The demonstrators protested the silence of UN women over the crimes against Israeli women, including rape by Hamas terrorists.

The demonstration was organized by the Association of Crisis Centers for Victims of Sexual Assault and the Women's Lobby in Israel. The demonstrators carried signs reading in Hebrew and English: "You shall not be silent" and "Women of the UN - there is no excuse for your silence." The organizers of the demonstration stated: "This week UN Women launched a campaign ahead of the Day for the Struggle against Violence against Women. Their message was that there is no excuse for gender-based violence. It's just a shame that they themselves can't stand behind this message. While campaigning against violence against women, they remain silent against the violence directed at Israeli women by Hamas. There is no excuse for their silence, no excuse for violence against Israeli women."

Against the backdrop of the silence of the world, especially UN Women, and the failure to condemn the rapes and mass sexual assaults committed on Black Saturday on 7 October, two weeks ago the headquarters of the families of the abductees submitted a medical report to the Red Cross detailing the dangers to which the women and children abducted by Hamas are exposed.

The report was prepared by Prof. Hagai Levin, a public health expert who serves as the head of the medical team at the headquarters of the families of the abductees. He mentions the Geneva Convention, which contains provisions related to the treatment of women in captivity during armed conflict, and emphasizes the need to protect women from violence and sexual abuse and to preserve their dignity and health.
