The ceasefire is finally over - the IDF has renewed the fighting in the Gaza Strip. While the political echelon does not officially announce whether an additional list of released prisoners has been received that will extend the ceasefire by a day, the terrorist organizations renewed their firing in the envelope and at the same time new instructions were issued for defense on the home front.
A diplomatic source told Israel Hayom on Friday morning: "This is a war - we are returning to fighting with all our might." According to Palestinian reports, "the ceasefire appears to be collapsing following the rocket fire on Israel and the responses of the air force."
Yesterday (Thursday), it was a difference of minutes between reaching agreement on a new list before agreement on the ceasefire was renewed before seven o'clock in the morning. Now, after seven o'clock and without any new list, it seems that the fighting may resume soon. Even without an official Israeli announcement, the tightening of Home Front Command guidelines in Tel Aviv and the center indicates things to come.
The IDF Spokesperson's Office issued a brief official statement stating, "Hamas violated the agreement and also fired at Israeli territory. The IDF renewed its fire against the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip."
As of 7:00 A.M., neither Israel nor Qatari mediators had received a list of abductees slated to be released in another phase. As part of the preparations, this morning the Home Front Command published updated guidelines for the public, which include stricter and emphasis on the education system in the Negev, West Lachish, the Golan Heights and even Gush Dan.
Local authorities in the lowlands have begun issuing notices to the public stating that preparations must be made for any scenario. "As we announced last night, and in accordance with the instructions of the Home Front Command from the last few minutes, in light of security developments, classes today will take place at Tier 2 – learning as it was at the beginning of the fighting: only near protected areas that can be reached within 90 seconds," the Rehovot municipality announced. In Ashdod, a similar directive was received, according to which studies will take place in a distance learning format.
In the past few hours, a number of rocket launches were fired from the Gaza Strip and sirens were activated in the communities near the Gaza Strip and the city of Sderot.
