The IDF presented to the international media today (Tuesday) Hamas' modus operandi for turning civilian neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip into terror zones from which its operatives operate against our forces.
The terrorist organization systematically places terrorist infrastructure in civilian buildings such as schools, kindergartens, mosques and terrorist infrastructure. Among the infrastructure found by IDF forces in civilian buildings were underground tunnels, hiding places for terrorists, operations rooms, rocket and anti-tank launching positions, and weapons depots. All the terrorist infrastructure was located in the same civilian buildings in order to use the residents of Gaza as human shields and bulletproof vests for the terrorists.
Hamas is working to make maximum use of these institutions, both on and below the ground, in the belief that Israel will not operate in these places, but as has been proven in the past, the civilian institutions in the Gaza Strip under them serve as de facto terrorist bases.

The video presented to the media showed a demonstration of an area in the Shati neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip, where Hamas uses civilian infrastructure such as children's schools and civilian homes to hide its terrorist infrastructure and act against IDF forces. Under the cover of the civilian route, the terrorist organization launches missiles, displaces weapons and operates terrorist operations rooms.
The video demonstrates a small area out of many existing areas in the Gaza Strip where Hamas uses the same method while endangering the civilian population.
The footage shown in the video shows Lieutenant Colonel Dotan, battalion commander in the Nahal Brigade's 932nd Brigade, describing Hamas' hold on the Shati neighborhood. "These are places that look as innocent as schools and kindergartens that are actually a stronghold for terrorists," he said. He was seen walking near innocent-looking swings and carousels, shot by nearby tunnel shafts. "Right inside classrooms in a school there was a gathering area for terrorists."
