The foremost promise of war is almost constantly in grave danger of being violated. This, of course, is the solemn promise "war now - politics later" that has been running our lives for the past two months. Most of the time, it is worth noting with satisfaction and surprise, it takes place, and thanks to the members of the government, and especially to the opposition leaders, who manage to curb both the wave of their anger and the temptation to reap benefit from the situation in favor of responsible and prudent behavior. Really, really thank you and appreciation.

Once a day or so, this situation threatens to change and this agreement threatens to collapse. This happens, regularly, when someone says something and then someone answers them. Then he, or she, and ten from his or her side, answer him, and then 3,700 from the other side tweet against, and so on.

And in those moments, when it happens, millions of Israelis panic that here it is. Here it all crashes. Here the demon is released, returns to the streets and quickly finds its way into conversations as well. I really can't imagine it happening, because it terrifies me.

How do you prevent it? The usual way is to ask politicians and officers to shut up. Clearly, this is a demand that is not only legitimate, but also necessary and obligatory. The question is: since in the democratic system there are also terribly stupid among the elected officials, and since a politician remains a politician even in times of war and can cover himself under the guise of defending his ideological positions, and since politicians can always defend themselves by claiming that Gan Sima "started" - are there no other ways to ensure that this situation continues to exist? That Israel will continue its efforts to save itself, without boxing fights distracting it and limiting its power?

And the answer is: there is and is. And it could even be the first line of defense. I know this is an unpopular opinion among my professional son, but it's called "the media is to blame." Yes, yes. It is permissible and necessary to say loudly: A journalist who echoes an idiotic statement of a politician, does not carry out his mission or does his job - he is causing harm.

That doesn't mean journalists should only tweet songs and pictures of volunteers these days. The criticism is not about exposing acts or actions, and certainly not about investigations and revelations. It's about talk.

Most of the nonsense politicians say is weightless and lifeless if it is not fueled and maintained, including things that are said in response in the media. Even when a politician says something nonsensical in an interview, he wouldn't last if it weren't for the follow-up question: "Wait, wait, so what you're actually saying is..." – and the boastful tweet that followed the interview.

Even in times of peace and calm, I despise discriminatory journalism, whose purpose is "someone said something." There it is already a matter of personal taste. In these crazy days, when every blow of a Knesset member can have meaning in human life, I believe in this.

In these days, an innovative Pulitzer should be invented to be given to a journalist who refrains from reporting reports that give him momentary fame but could cause enormous national damage.
