Minister Gadi Eizenkot published a post on his Facebook account today (Friday) after the swearing-in ceremony for his son Gal, z"l, who fell in Gaza last week. In the moving post, Eizenkot thanked the comforters and the warm embrace he received from the people and pledged to "work with all my might for the good of a strong, developed, just and progressive State of Israel."

"I thank the general public for their support and embrace, our Gal belongs to a wonderful generation of young men and women and I promise to continue working for the future of the State of Israel according to the values and standards by which it was established," he wrote. "It's been a week since our lives changed forever. The longing for our beloved Gal is immense and the pain is unimaginable."
"I promised yesterday from his grave that despite the difficulty and the huge void that has opened up in us, we will continue to be a strong and happy family, a family that will choose life every day anew. That's what Gal would ask of us if only he could."
"During the shiva days, we were visited by Gal's many friends, near and far, who met him at different junctures in his full life. How much we love them. For us, they are like our children who joined the family. Each and every one of them added another piece of information, another story, about what Gal meant to them, how much his presence influenced them and will continue to influence, in the future."
