Hamas operatives detained drug traffickers in southern Gaza, according to reports published in Gaza. Hamas policemen allegedly apprehended several drug dealers Sunday night in Khan Yunis, where fighting is taking place between IDF forces and operatives of the terrorist organization.
Despite Hamas' severe distress in the face of massive airstrikes and fighting on the ground, the organization is trying to broadcast business as usual and show that its security forces, police officers and operatives still control this area and maintain civilian order. It should be noted that unlike the northern Gaza Strip, Hamas still has a foothold in the south.
Reports: Hamas policemen in Khan Yunis shoot Gazan youth in street | Arab networks
Clashes were recorded yesterday in Rafah during the unloading of goods and humanitarian aid. Hamas operatives reportedly deployed in civilian clothes and opened fire. A young Palestinian named Ahmed Pool was shot dead as he huddled in the crowd trying to grab an aid box. The incident led to violent clashes during which members of the Pool clan and its supporters set fire to a Hamas building, called for revenge and accused the organization of killing him. It was also reported that another person was injured in Rafah while the goods were being distributed.
The incident shows that Hamas continues to deploy its operatives on the ground in an attempt to "enforce order" and regulate the distribution of goods for its needs, while masses of Gazans complain of hunger and lack of food, and some have been documented attacking aid warehouses and looting goods from trucks.
Following the incident, anti-Hamas activists said that "the organization's militias are working to intimidate residents in the Khan Yunis area while taking over the people's resources."
They also referred to Hamas' claim that the organization had arrested two collaborators in Gaza who had joined Israeli intelligence services, saying that "this is a new and old means of intimidation that Hamas uses against the people in order to oppress them and to remain under its mob rule. They accuse collaboration as a preliminary card that they can later use against anyone who tries to speak out and criticize them."
