Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich spoke at a meeting of the Religious Zionist faction about the investigation of Hamas' "charitable organizations," which was exposed in Israel Hayom last weekend.

Smotrich said, "There is one thing that cannot be disputed, that this humanitarian aid must not reach Hamas. Moreover, we in the cabinet at the outset were promised that trucks hijacked by Hamas and its organizations would be bombed and the aid would stop. I will raise this demand unequivocally tomorrow in the cabinet."
Minister Smotrich explained: "It is impossible to determine the purpose of the war to undermine Hamas's military and civilian capabilities and on the other hand allow it and the organizations affiliated with it to be the ones controlling and distributing the humanitarian aid, and in effect maintain its power vis-à-vis the population of Gaza. It's an irreconcilable contradiction." He went on to stress: "I repeat, we were promised that the aid trucks would not reach Hamas. And that this thing has control. And that if they reach Hamas, we will bomb them from the air and stop the aid. We will demand that this be enforced and carried out."

The "Choose Life" forum of bereaved families and terror victims said: "We thank Minister Smotrich and other ministers who committed to raise the issue at the upcoming cabinet meeting. It is our duty to internalize that the elimination of Hamas' civilian system is an essential and necessary part of the war and the toppling of the murderous terrorist organization Hamas. It is impossible to fuel him with equipment and turn a blind eye to his ties with UN aid organizations. We demand an end to this. Action must be taken to thwart and topple all Hamas charitable organizations."
