Presenter Assi Ezer said goodbye Tuesday evening to contestant Capt. (res.) Shaul Greenglick, who fell in battle in Gaza.
"Dear Shauli fell in Gaza. We only met twice. In the interview before the audition for the star and in the audition itself. Short meetings. But it didn't take more than that to see its magic. Smiling man. One that you immediately want to be your friend," Ezer wrote on his Instagram story.
"A singer with grace, good eyes. And now he's gone. I would like to send my condolences, on behalf of myself and the entire program staff. Our hearts are full of sorrow. I wish this nightmare would end already."

Captain (Res.) Shaul Greenglick, an officer in the 931st Battalion in the Nahal Brigade, passed the audition on the program "The Next Star for Eurovision", in which he sang Hanan Ben Ari's song "Blind Bat". He then decided to give up participating in the program in order to continue fighting in the Gaza Strip. On Tuesday, it was cleared for publication that he had fallen in battle.
Keshet 12 and Teddy Productions said they were "saddened by the death of Shaul Greenglik, a combat officer in the Nahal Brigade who fell today in battle in the northern Gaza Strip. Shaul participated in the current season of The Next Star and moved us all.
