The Jewish Agency has begun recruiting emissaries who will leave this summer for a period of two years in Jewish communities around the world. Their departure comes against the backdrop of an unprecedented wave of anti-Semitism that has struck almost every country. The Jewish agencies hope that the emissaries will work to bring the Israeli story anywhere in the world and foster the strategic connection between Diaspora Jewry and the State of Israel.

Each year, more than 2,000 Jewish Agency emissaries and emissaries serve abroad, working in hundreds of Jewish communities in some 60 countries around the world. About 500 of them go on a long mission that lasts about two years, and another 1,500 leave for a short period of several weeks in summer camps and work with Jewish youth in North America.

Since the massacre of Hamas on October 7 and the outbreak of the Iron Sword War, Jewish Agency emissaries have led rallies in support of Israel all over the world, raised funds for victims of terror in Israel, raised awareness of the release of the hostages in dozens of interviews in the international media, worked to consolidate Jewish leadership on campuses in the face of rising anti-Semitism, and initiated the arrival of solidarity delegations and volunteers from the Diaspora, and more.

"Jewish Agency emissaries and emissaries are at the forefront of activity and connection with Diaspora Jewry. Their mission these days is sharper and more significant today than ever – developing the connection and bringing the Israeli story to Jewish communities all over the world," said Jewish Agency Chairman Maj. Gen. (Res.) Doron Almog.

The selection for the long emissary is currently opening to three different tracks – campus emissaries who will be stationed at leading universities in the United States and other centers around the world, community emissaries who will serve broad audiences in the Jewish communities in North America, and movement emissaries who will work with young people in the global centers of the various youth movements around the world. In addition, the screenings are currently opening for short assignments to summer camps in North America.

Before embarking on their mission, they will undergo special training from the Adelson School of Mission. Among other things, they will receive tools and professional guidance on how to deal with the sharp spike in antisemitic incidents in the Diaspora.
