The strike at Deutsche Bahn has just ended, and there is already the next conflict.
This time local public transport is affected - also in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
Berlin/Mainz - There will be restrictions on local public transport in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland on Friday due to an all-day warning strike.
The Verdi union called for the action on Monday.
Almost all federal states are affected.
The central strike rally is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. on the Theodor Heuss Bridge, which connects Wiesbaden and Mainz.
Strikers from Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate as well as from Baden-Württemberg and Saarland are supposed to come together here.
The spokesperson is Verdi deputy boss Christine Behle.
“We have a dramatic shortage of workers in public transport and incredible pressure on employees.
In all tariff areas, buses and trains are canceled every day because there are not enough staff.
“Something must be done urgently to relieve the burden on employees,” said Behle in Berlin on Monday.
Passengers will once again face significant restrictions this Friday, especially in rush hour traffic.
It was only this Monday that the German Locomotive Drivers' Union (GDL) prematurely ended its multi-day strike at Deutsche Bahn.
A peace obligation now applies there until March 3rd.
However, Verdi labor disputes are still possible in local and regional transport.
The union wants to improve working conditions for employees.
According to Verdi, the core demands include a shortening of weekly working hours, an increase in vacation entitlement, additional relief days for shift and night work as well as the limitation of shared shifts and unpaid times in driving service.
In Saarland, in addition to working conditions, employees' wages and salaries are also negotiated.
