Taekwondo fighter Dana Azran today (Monday) won the gold medal at the World Cup in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Bronze also goes to Nimrod Kribitsky. 

Azran, who competes in the weight category over 73 kg, went through her first rounds without difficulty, when in the quarterfinals she defeated Rabba Stewart from Austria 0: 5 and thus secured her place on the podium. 

In the semi-final against Spaniard Bellin Moreno Romero the fight was close throughout, and at the end of legal time the board showed 5: 5 and in the gold score, the victory went to the Israeli who was supposed to meet Poland Alexandra Kovalczyk who retired due to injury in battle. 

Krivitsky, who competes in the weight category up to 68 kg, defeated the Polish Mathieu Szczesnowski 14:23 in the quarterfinals and qualified for the semifinals. Before that, he defeated Santiago Campos from Argentina 17:36 and Lazar Dergojevic from Serbia 5:16.  

In the last quartet, Marcus Caballero separated the Israeli from qualifying for the final, with the Spaniard winning 2: 8, and Kribitsky settling for a bronze medal.

As you may recall, yesterday, on the opening day of the competition, Olympic medalist Avishag Samberg (49 kg) won the silver medal in the competition.

Alex Filipov, who competes in the weight category up to 80 kg, defeated the Serbian Ivan Kreilovic 9:12 and finished in fifth place following a loss to Richard Ordmain from Norway. Also participating in the competition were Noa Price, Sarah Ben Aharon, Shaked Aviv, Itamar Sasson and Omri Azulai .
