The Homs chess team has completed its preparations to participate in the Arab Championship, which will be held in Damascus on the 18th of this month.
The team's preparations included a 20-day training camp, set up by the Chess Technical Committee in Homs, with the participation of a number of distinguished players.
In a statement to SANA, the head of the technical committee for the game, Mahmoud Rabie, said that the camp was set up with the aim of qualifying the governorate’s players and refining their skills and experience, as they were given theoretical and practical lectures on the foundations of the game at all levels, how to solve advanced puzzles in several ways, and moving chess pieces according to the coordinates of the board.
He pointed to the importance of the experiences and information gained by the team's players during the camp, and their strong readiness to participate in the tournament, which will include the most skilled players from Syria and some Arab countries.
