The sporty crisis-ridden VfB Hallbergmoos has recently improved.

Gundelfingen was the first step - the second should now follow against Kottern.

Hallbergmoos

– Matthias Strohmaier from VfB Hallbergmoos cannot complain about boredom at the moment.

From Monday to Wednesday he stayed at the coaching course for the A license.

There, together with ex-professionals such as Sandro Wagner (currently coach at SpVgg Unterhaching) or Roberto Hilbert, he deals with the many factors involved in looking after a football team.

This time it was about the “identity of a team”.

In the last Bayernliga first round game against TSV Kottern (Friday, 7.30 p.m., Stadion am Airport in Hallbergmoos) he can put what he has learned into practice.

A week ago at FC Gundelfingen there was a significant increase in performance - but also the twelfth defeat in the 16th game of the season.

"We just have to look at the positives now and build on that," says Strohmaier.

His team has to get back to the point where they don't just play a strong half, as they did in Gundelfingen, but convince over the entire 90 minutes.

Gundelfingen was a first step.

Many newcomers apparently haven't really arrived yet

And then there is the weekly topic from the coaching course with the identity in the team.

"That was our big advantage last season," says Strohmaier.

The line-up from the previous week with ten starting eleven players who wore the VfB jersey in the previous round also fits into the picture.

David Lucksch was the only newcomer to start in Gundelfingen.

This is an indication that a large proportion of the newcomers have not really arrived yet.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

This also has the consequence that Fabian Diranko cannot get the classic build-up - step by step with longer and longer assignments - after his long injury break.

When the striker is in the squad, he usually plays until he runs out of strength.

The 23-year-old is exemplary at the side's service, but his zero goals this season means no miracles can be expected from him.

At Diranko, the coach is hoping for the winter break and proper preparation for the second half of the season.

Strohmaier: "I always thought it was a joke."

The home game against TSV Kottern is about whether the first half of the season will be even worse than last year.

In the Bayernliga premiere season, Hallbergmoos had nine points after the first series – so a draw would be needed to achieve that.

"After the successful relegation, we said that we would give the competition a bigger head start," says Strohmaier, conveying impressions of the cabin teasing.

"But I always thought it was a joke." Now you have to increase the gap from one point to the direct relegation zone, and then the way to a third Bayernliga year should only lead again via the detour to relegation.

"We still have the luxury of having our fate in our own hands," explains Strohmaier.

Possible line-up:

VfB:

Dinkel (badger) - Petschner, Monthe (Strohmaier), Giglberger, Mömkes - Kostorz, Beetz (Thee), Lucksch, Krause - Werner, Diranko.
